The Star Hotel at Macksville on the New South Wales north coast, has been exquisitely renovated. A two storey timber building overlooking the wide Nambucca River the timber lining board walls give a warm and cosy feel. The ceilings are pressed metal and the large mirror behind the bar is an etching of the pub itself. The menu is imaginative and begs us to return.
I love the picture of the river. Just fantastic!

Oh you just like it cos it’s a truck pic 😀😀. That’s the Pacific Hwy the main link between state capitals Sydney and Brisbane. Macksville will be bypassed shortly when the new bridge is completed.

Thanks WG that river is the Nambucca and at that point it is winding its way to the sea in big lazy loops.

We had a passion for iron lacework in this country that defies belief. I’ve photographed so many styles that I think a lot of ironmongers must have made their own patterns.
