The Burra Passport Tour is a wonderful concept and being able to pick and choose what historical sites to visit is a big plus.
Up on the hill behind Redruth there is a small village of stone ruins known as Hampton Village. Originally laid out in 1857 and planned as an English style village it was once home to 30 families. Today it is a maze of pathways, crumbling dry stone walls and the remains of cottages that were constructed from fine stone quarried in the gully below. In the right light this would be a photographer’s dream but not this time and anyway I think Woody has had his fill of historical sites. It’s time to hit the road again.
