A friend of Henry Lawson, writer E.J. Brady was so impressed with the little town of Mallacoota that he built a house on Captain Stevenson’s Point and set up a writer’s camp there, it would be hard to find a more inspiring location.

It is such a scenic place. A lot of time can be whiled away here. But they have some amazing storms. Back in the days of tent camping with the kids, one summer holiday, we had 16 inches over 24 hours. Empty fruit cans do not really cut it as trench diggers.

Everyone should experience tent camping in a Victorian summer. Agony and ecstasy.
