Day 16 Saturday June 21st 2014 Mullumbimby to Maroochydore
It is a bright clear morning and 17 degrees at 8:30am, yet on the radio they’re complaining about how cold it is. The hardware store is advertising heaters and we thought it was hot overnight. Huh! Last night we visited the Mullumbimby footy club rooms for the big Friday night, we had one drink and quickly adjourned for dinner in the van.
It is a nice morning for driving past the cane fields, over the Tweed and on into Queensland. Yep it’s taken us 16 days to drive to Qld! That probably makes the Guinness ‘slow speed’ Book of Records. We meet up with Woody’s brother Woody the Elder and his wife The very good golfer at the Mudgeeraba service centre on the highway and follow Woody the Elder through to the Maroochydore Holiday Park. It is right on the beach and once we are organised we walk down to the Surf Life Saving Club for a drink overlooking the ocean. We finish the day with dinner at the local RSL.

2020 Note: And we thought 16 days to Qld was slow. Thanks to the pandemic this year we took four months and never got there!

A magnificent sunset that money cannot buy!

As I read your text I thought that 16 days would seem like a zip through now.
I agree it’s a stunning sunset.
