Like a Rollingstone, Day 81 – A Beaut Butchery

Day 81 Friday, 29/7/2016, Bundaberg to Murgon, warm

We wake to a mild morning after the first cold night in quite a while. Our mate El Prado had recommended the smoked meat butcher at Kilkivan (pronounced Killkeev’n) so we set off on a long haul shopping trip. Through Gin Gin and our favourite spot Childers, on to Sexie Coffie in Maryborough for some more freshly roasted beans then we turn west off the God awful Bruce Highway (we’re over highway traffic) through pretty little towns to Kilkivan. The butcher is indeed a beaut with a shop filled with smoked meats it is worthy of a drive up from Melbourne, though the lady behind the counter looks at us like we’re idiots when we proudly declare that we’ve driven from Melbourne!

Laden with supplies we pull into Barambah Bush Caravan Park at Murgon and the owner Ian, says “Gee, look at that, your van door’s open and your boots are still on the step.” Here we go again!
