Day 56 Wednesday 21/7/21 Mulambin, sunny 21 again
Because of NSW and Victorian border confusion we extend our booking here another 5 days until the 18th of August. We’re lucky to keep our site as the park is busy. We wonder when and how we’ll get home.
I zip down to Emu Park for an early morning blood test only to find the pathology lab closed. On such a sunny morning it’s a lovely drive to Cooee Bay where I’m attended to by an Irishman who has been here 4 years and loves jet ski fishing with a passion but gosh he’s hard to understand.
Parking the car outside the Keppel Bay Sailing Club and Woody and El Prado try to make sense of the parking meter. It helps if you push the buttons boys, rather than the pictures of the buttons on the instructions. We meet Silicon & MV and C & W for lunch but Woody can’t join us. Why? Well, he was soaking his ears with ear cleaner when another caravan pulled in and he rushed outside to move our car. In the urgency he shoved his hearing aids back into his wet oily ears. Hearing aids don’t like moisture and instantly shut down. Thus, while we’re having a leisurely lunch he is rushing about Yeppoon trying to find someone who can fix them. Thankfully W being a local recommends a hearing place in Cooee Bay and the problem is quickly rectified. We all talk ourselves silly over lunch and W tells us about life growing up in this area working and sailing the Keppel Islands. Lunch is large and as good as we remember from two years ago.
We try cooking a frittata in a foil tray in the air fryer but it is a massive fail until…we finish it off in the microwave.
