It’s summer in Melbourne and the Red Flowering Gums are splendid. The bees are kept busy all day and in the evenings the lorikeets, more colourful than the flowers, squawk raucously as they feed on the nectar.

These look good – we have one with what look like a white variety

They’re beautiful aren’t they. Here they put on such a good show as a street tree.

Love gum flowers. I have a baby, one year old dwarf gum tree that I’m nurturing and it flowered back in November for the first time.

I just love the way the lid pops off to reveal a curled flower.

How tall is yours expected to grow?

It is a dwarf but will still get to about 2 metres.
