My only introduction to kookaburras was at primary school singing the Aussie (presumably) “round”: Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, Merry merry king of the bush is he. Laugh Kookaburra laugh, Kookaburra gay your life must be!
That was before “gay” had another implication.
