Radjah Shelduck

We were staying at Cape Hillsborough, Qld in July 2016 and poking about the nearby area. In the local park at Seaforth, we chanced upon a bunch, sorry flock, of funny-looking ducks who followed us about. They were probably looking for handouts. We were fascinated by the curious band around their necks and assumed that they were a farmyard crossbreed. But no, my trusty ‘Merlin Bird ID’ app tells me that these fellows have the regal name of Radjah Shelduck. As Princess Mary of Denmark can tell you, you just never know when you’re mixing with royalty.
