Breakdown Blues – Days – 51 & 52 – Tex Mex?

Day 51 Monday 25/7/2022 Mulambin, sunny 13 – 22

We’re out of coffee beans so we drive into Rockhampton. It’s a nice morning for a walk around East Street in the heart of town before Aldi and Doblo’s fruit barn. We’re chasing ingredients for tonight’s pseudo Tex Mex dinner and end up back in Yeppoon for the hot dog rolls. Lucky we enjoy driving, eh.

The dinner is hot dogs, Mac n Cheese, and Nachos in the camp kitchen. As we stuff ourselves, we meet a couple who have just bought their first van and are heading north on a 3-month trip. The poor things are bombarded with our suggestions.

The messier they are the better they taste, but they do resemble a crime scene.

Day 52 Tuesday 26/7/2022 Mulambin, sunny 12 – 22

B1 & B2 head off on their way across the top to Perth.

With no breeze, it’s an ideal morning for a walk on the beach and Woody walks into Yeppoon. When I pick him up we take out an associate membership at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club. For an outlay of only $8 we get a 10% discount on our purchases at the club’s two venues in Yeppoon and at both the Yeppoon and Emu Park Bowls Clubs. One meal will more than recoup our outlay.

We have fish and chips on the Yeppoon deck overlooking the beach for lunch.

Yeppoon main beach, a view like this makes the fish and chips taste even better!

Footnote: Little did they know, but our mates B1 & B2 were soon to catch a dose of Covid at Port Douglas. They recovered quickly and continued their trip.
