Hello Rochy – You call this fun?

Day 6 Thursday 22/2/2024 Rochester, hot 38˚

It was another hot night and a warm morning. To get us out of the van we drive into Echuca for lunch at the Old Post Office café. The air con is nice.

Thinking that a drive to Torrumbarry Weir on the Murray River would be a good idea in this heat, we set off with me behind the wheel and Woody navigating. Of course, the VW navigation leaves a lot to be desired and Woody refusing to use Google Maps (his excuse being that it’s more fun to get lost) we never did find the weir and ended up back in Echuca! I’m glad Woody had fun, but I’m afraid I can’t show you any pics of the weir and boats going through the locks.

Our van air conditioner is doing a good job of holding the temperature at a bearable level. We cook salmon on the camp kitchen BBQ and top it off with a nice salad.

Thunderstorms roll in again but this time we only get a few fat drops of rain. A typical Victorian summer.

Accom: $42.00

Fuel: $52.65

Not the Torrumbarry Weir, but a nice old house in Echuca

  1. Mmm… the notorious VW navigation system. Not that Google is necessarily an improvement – witness some recent well publicized instances of travellers going badly astray, following same.
