A Merry Mildura Xmas – An Aussie Christmas

Day 11 Wednesday 25/12/2024 Buronga, 15 – 37 Xmas weather!

It’s a peaceful and quiet morning as two thirds of the park leave for functions elsewhere. The rest of us soak up the atmosphere and location and the warmth of a hot Christmas morning. Our neighbour who’s from the Pilbara declares this as the best Christmas ever. The park manager dressed as Santa delivers gifts to all the kids from his golf cart. Someone throws a line in the river.

While the salmon bakes we have a dip in the pool. Wandering about the caravan in wet bathers we’re so relaxed that neither of us can remember what has to be done for lunch. Not much anyway. We get dressed, take everything, prawns, cold pork, hot salmon and salads over to the camp kitchen, set the table, open the Trentham Estate fizz and enjoy lunch with a view of the river.

As the temperature rises it’s time to sleep off lunch before we  start packing up to leave early tomorrow.

Dinner is leftovers while fellow campers splash in the pool. Our Euston neighbours, clad in towels and wet from the pool are heating a pudding in the microwave and also declaring “Why aren’t all Christmases like this?”

Tomorrow is expected to be 42◦ with a bushfire alert.

Now, there’s a great way to have Christmas.
