Day 10 Monday 23/6/2025, Murwillumbah, NSW, 12 – 20 misty rain
With a week’s stay booked at Murwillumbah showgrounds, we have the chance of a relaxing morning, except poor Woody wore himself out tramping up and down the hills looking for the laundromat. It might be in the middle of a volcanic caldera*, but this town is certainly hilly.

Map source: Google
*The volcanic Caldera is 30Kms in diameter (Wikipedia). That’s a lot of good volcanic soil for sugar cane growing.

While we’re on the subject of locations, we take the car and go in search of the caravan repair place that we had booked to repair our leaking water tanks. And thank goodness that we do, as they have moved without updating their website. I’m glad we didn’t have to sort that out with the van on the back in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Being out and about is also an opportunity to pick up some local fruit and vegetables from a fruit barn. ‘Fruit barns’ are quite the thing in northern NSW and Qld and most often the produce is locally grown and cheaper.
Accom: $35.00

Unupdated websites can be a pain

the fruit barns sound like they are great to have when out and about

Whoops, you’ve done it now! That’ll be stuck in my brain. We’ve got a town down here called Indented Head, which is fine and understandable, but of course it only takes one wag to call it Demented Head …
