Day 20 Thursday 3/7/2025 Wooli, NSW, sunny 11 – 20
Oh, what a beautiful morning, it’s so good that we fling the windows open for the first time this trip. Woody shells the Balmain bugs that we won at the Bowlo last night and we have bugs and avocado sandwiches for lunch in the sun.
I have to stop reading my book, I’ve been reading the Anna Klein Trilogy and trying to read slowly because I don’t want it to end. I guess that means it’s a perfect holiday read. But then this is not a holiday, is it? It’s a lifestyle.
Woody goes walking and I drive into the older part of town to sketch. There’s a little park by the river opposite a holiday rental and roofers have removed the old tiles and are now scrambling about the steep roof replacing them with colourbond steel. I get so engrossed in drawing the unusual building I forget to draw the roofers. The birds here are a treat flitting about in the shrubs around me. Giving up on the sketch that is all out of perspective, it’s time for a walk on the beach. It’s high tide and more sponges have washed up. There’s a little box beside the beach track containing a beach toy library, how good that is!

At sunset the pelicans make weird reflections in the river.
Dinner is pork chops, mashed potatoes and a Greek salad.

Accom: $29.00

Sensible to stop drawing when it’s not working. Bad luck, though

Sorry, I shrank the car and ended up with an awful bloom on the A frame roof. I’ll chalk that one down to lessons learned.

You win some and lose some: that’s sketching for you. The rest of the stay looks idyllic.

Sketching certainly makes the time pass quickly. Perspective can be tricky.

That’s for sure, on both counts!
