A Cool Coast – Just Give Me a Jab & No One Gets Hurt

Day 32 Tuesday 15/7/2025 Darlington Beach, grey cold 7 – 16

Just sunning my toes Mum

We take the short drive into Coffs Harbour for Woody’s regular blood test and my B12 shot, oh and some Aldi shopping, you never know there maybe something irresistible in the centre aisle. Woody is badly in need of a haircut and while waiting I decide to have mine done as well. Asking the hairdresser to thin the crown as it gets a bit thick I don’t realise that I now have two spikes that look like devil’s horns. What’s that old saying? There’s only two weeks between a bad haircut and a good one.

At the medical centre I’m quoted $90 – $100 to have the B12 vial that I already have, injected. For a 15sec jab that is usually free, nah. I’ll go elsewhere. I pop into the pharmacy next door to get a bunch of prescriptions filled and the chemist comments that I don’t need to get that many medicines at once as “every town has a chemist”. I splutter and mutter and then think better of trying to explain that ‘it’s not the case in the places we go’.

But we do buy some local bananas.

Our favourite banana farm, on the side of a steep hill. The shade cloth is probably covering blueberries, and in the distance are some of the Solitary Islands Group.

Dinner is Chinese leftovers and some mini arancini balls from that damned food truck that was out front.

Accom: $47.00

  1. It’s interesting to me, here in Colorado in the U.S. we see deer and other wildlife and don’t think it’s that big of a deal and there you see kangaroos all the time and think little of it. We have apple orchards but I have never seen a banana farm, lol.

    1. I remember being excited at seeing all your corn. I still get a buzz out of seeing our sugar cane because that usually means we’ve reached warmer weather. The kangaroos are a mystery that we often talk about. No matter how many thousands we’ve seen in our lives, we still shout “Kangaroos!” And get that warm fuzzy feeling. They are beautiful creatures.
