A Cool Coast – Rock Painting

Day 41 Thursday 24/7/2025 Nambucca Heads, 10 – 17 sunny

There’s no sleeping-in this morning. I take The Bridesmaid for a walk along the V Wall breakwater, where we meet a chap who is perched on the rocks repainting his family’s rock. The path is busy with walkers this morning, continuing along the river to the Wharf Café, we sit in the sunshine drinking coffee.

A family rock gets a touch up

While we’re yacking, Woody is back at camp making corned beef rolls for lunch and we eat them in the camp kitchen. The rolls are nice, but the noise of the jumping pillow’s air compressor and the shrieks of the tumbling kids have us scrambling out quickly.

Jumping in the car it’s time to show The BM a little of the area. We head over to the next town north, pretty Valla Beach, stroll around the main street of Nambucca Heads, and buy a hand of bananas from the Farmer’s Market in the park.

Happy hour is in the V Wall Tavern at the entrance to the caravan park. The pub has had a makeover since we last visited and of course view of the river is quite stunning. The atmosphere is tantalizing enough to make one want to get wasted and fall off one’s bar stool. We resist temptation, Woody cooks a heap of Koftas and we eat indoors in the cabin.

Accom: $46.00
