A Cool Coast – Too Tired to Celebrate

Day 46 Tuesday 29/7/2025 Nambucca Heads, some clouds 10 – 18

It’s our 53rd wedding anniversary, and today we set off at 8:30 to drop The Bridesmaid off at Coffs Harbour airport for her flight home. I must say that the three of us are dressed a lot more casually than we were on this day in 1972.

The road to the lookout has re-opened, meaning that we can nip up and buy some bananas from one of the many farms on the hill. Woody has a hearing aid appointment in Coffs Harbour (these new ones are his 4th pair, so far). I sip a coffee in the sun at The Plaza and sketch while I wait.

Coffs Harbour, a good climate for gardens

Back in Nambucca it has become a beautiful afternoon. The tide is on the way out and the sandbanks are appearing in the river. The water is churning like a washing machine. The fishermen are out on the breakwater and over at Shelly Beach spearfishermen are cleaning their catch and making the seagulls happy.

And dinner for our anniversary? Ha, left over curry, of course. We’re so tired we can’t even face a bottle of bubbles.
