Confessions of a Grey Nomad – The Places We Love

Queensland’s Magnificent Coast

Continuing our list of the places that we love for fellow travellers Notta and Scribbles. This time we’ll work our way up the Queensland coast. Greater Brisbane pretty well begins at Coolangatta on the state’s southern border and spreads north through the Gold Coast, Brisbane city and suburbs, and it also encompasses the Sunshine Coast to the Noosa Heads area. Let’s start at the very top of the Sunshine Coast region.

Sunshine Coast

Cooroy

The small town of Cooroy has a trendy vibe with plenty of cafes appealing to the day trippers from Brisbane and Noosa. It is a delightful town, and the community provides a large grassy freedom camp at the northern end of town. This is a perfect overnighter before or after the long almost non-stop highway stretch between Coolangatta and the Sunshine Coast. The nearby town of Tewantin has a ferry service to Noosa Heads which showcases the Noosa River and saves you the hassle of trying to park a car anywhere within cooee of Noosa Heads.

One word of warning: this RV park backs onto factories that can be noisy during working hours.
