Day 32 Thursday 9/7/2026 Lake Monduran, cloudy 20
This morning is warm enough for Woody to eat brekkie outside, albeit rugged up. It is a morning of relaxation, reading, writing, and sketching. This is one of those places that forces relaxation, especially in the evening when the internet drops out!
After lunch we take a walk across the dam wall. Rain threatens but doesn’t eventuate. The lake is smooth and a few boats are out fishing. So too, a cormorant dives I’ll bet he is having better luck.

Back at camp, while wallabies are grazing on the grass a kookaburra is perched on our neighbour’s new caravan. It’s a good high perch for spotting movement in the grass. On the other side of his van we can hear tip-toeing as a blue faced honeyeater patiently works at the stitches in his caravan awning. We daren’t tell ‘the guy who never speaks’ that these little fellas really should be named blue faced awning eaters.
Yesterday I picked a milkweed/swan bush pod to sketch it closely. This morning it had split open revealing a shimmering silken ribbon and a cache of tiny seeds. On taking it outside to sketch this new phase the silk began unfurling on the breeze with each seed using a silk thread for flight.
