On the Road Again – It’s All Bananas to Me

Day 41 Saturday 18/7/2026 Mulambin, 15 – 22 and sunny

Woody goes off to the Yeppoon farmer’s market returning with pineapples, passionfruit, and bananas, his favourite variety that we’ve only seen at this market, called Pisang Ducasse. The farmer explains his take on the pronunciation “DUCASSE ducks arse!”

Duck’s Arse!

The Bridesmaid likes an early morning walk so we give her directions to turn left out of the park and in 3 minutes she’ll be on the beach. Instead, she turns right and finds herself taking a one km walk over to Kemp Beach. Oops.

We all have morning coffee outside our van and it’s pleasant sitting in the sun yacking. Our mates C & W who live locally drop by before they tow their Caraboat (trailable houseboat) up to Airlie Beach for a few days holiday.

After a late lunch I take BM on a brief tour of Yeppoon and we wind up at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club. The views out across the bay to the Keppel Islands is divine and celebrating that view means we are a little late for happy hour.

Shirley Temple is giving a Double or Nuthin’ a hard time because this morning he went off to the amenities block to clean his teeth and she found that he’d left his dentures in the caravan bathroom and didn’t even miss them on his return. Sounds like we have another ‘Toothless’ eh?
