Day 48 Saturday 25/7/2026 Mulambin, cloudy
Woody’s eldest brother, Woody the Elder passed away this morning at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Needless to say, it is a sad day for us all.
We have a quiet bbq dinner, just the four of us, remembering the good times. Woody the Elder certainly left us with a lot of memories.
In his younger days he was a delivery driver, with one of those old English vans, a Morris LD5, a boxy thing with a four-cylinder motor and a sliding door. Woody had lined up a new job for him delivering chickens for Inghams. He was due to start the next day. Driving home through Royal Park on those curving roads near the zoo, WTE decided to light a cigarette, while he steered the van with his feet, of course. The door slid back, he flew out and the old van just kept wandering off through the park. Poor Woody had to front his boss next day and explain why his battered and bruised brother couldn’t start work.
Yep, he was a funny bugger.
