On the Road Again – G’day Gordo!

Day 51 Tuesday 28/7/2026 Mulambin, light cloud

A morning of writing and trip housekeeping.

Woody sets off for a walk while I settle in for lunch and a good book under the awning. I notice a caravan coming in with a driver who is looking far too relaxed. Then I hear the new 4×4 and equally new caravan trying to reverse into the site opposite and CRUNCH he’s hit a palm tree. I jump up and tell them that I’ll move our car forward to give them more swing room and return to lunch and my book. The tuna salad has almost gone when the wife/navigator comes over and asks if I can move the car again as ‘Gordon has to come in too’. This time I park our car in the next street and notice that there are two rigs waiting to come in. Finishing the lunch dishes, I look up to see a caravan where our neighbour’s car should be. Oh, dear that must be Gordo, you’re a little close mate.

G’day Gordo, you can dry the dishes if you like.

This is too much excitement in one day. I drive into Yeppoon to pick up yesterday’s forgotten drugs and Woody who decides to have a haircut while we’re there and return to take a short walk on Tanby Beach.

Dinner is crumbed lamb cutlets, corn cobs and our signature mashed potatoes cooked in a freezer bag in the microwave.

I wonder how many micro plastics we’ve just consumed?

Accom: $56.00
