Wandering around North Eastern Victoria we discover that Brown Brothers Winery is only a few kilometres away from us and it has an RV park. There is plenty of asphalt parking beside a nice mown lawn and views to a tree plantation. There is water available but no toilets. We must contain our grey water which means we must catch it in a bucket and distribute it around the nearby trees rather than making a mess in the car park. With the car and van suitably parked we spend the afternoon sitting in the autumn sun on the winery terrace admiring the gardens and enjoying a chilled wine or two and a charcuterie platter of salamis, cornichon and caperberries. You could say that this free camp gets the thumbs up even if it’s not so free in the long run.
Next morning a short walk along the road reveals that the town of Milawa is much closer than we thought and in the vineyard the vines are dripping with large black bunches of grapes just waiting to be turned into nectar of the Gods.
The Brown Brothers Winery looks a must-see place, fabulous.
