Yea, Vic is a great little town at the crossroads of the Melba Highway and the Goulburn Valley Highway and for as long as I can remember (and that’s a long time) it’s always been far enough out of Melbourne for one to need a refreshment stop. There are three pubs, two bakeries and numerous cafes, wide streets and plenty of parking. So popular is Yea for that important stop that it even has two public toilet blocks. There’s room enough to park cars & caravans or cars & boats. Because this important junction town is close to Lake Eildon, a popular water skiing spot and Bonnie Doon, and as all Australians know Bonnie Doon is the epitome of ‘serenity’*.
*The Castle – 1997 movie starring Michael Caton. If you haven’t seen the movie do yourself a favour it explains why so many Australians are happy to sit out in dry bushland muttering “Ah, the serenity”.
Footnote for food lovers: The Yea Butchery has seriously good pork if you want to stock up the freezer.

Your pit stop is the place we try to park our rig!

Ha, I’d like a dollar for the times we’ve parked in that spot!

Yep. Short walk to people pit stop. Nice grassed area over the road for dog pit stop. And the bakery – pie and pastie for himself, yummy huge salad sandwich for me. And seats to sit and watch the passing traffic while we eat. What more does one need?

Yea sounds like a decent pit stop. So weird for us to see at this time of year though when its dark and cold and wet over here.
