It’s a long way to the top, Day 85 & 86 – Wandering Maryborough

Days 85 & 86 Fri & Sat Aug 29 & 30th 2014 Maryborough

The weather is warm so we do some housekeeping, shopping, exploring and visit the hairdresser. The hairdresser tells me that Maryborough has an annual charity pub crawl and partakers pay money to visit ten pubs and they must be all ‘dressed up to the nines’. Sounds like fun.

We hear from Double or Nuthin’ and Shirley, they’re loving the spot they found at Rainbow Beach. It might be worth a look in.

We spend longer here than we had intended. It is a lovely town. We stock up on coffee supplies at Sexie Coffee on the Bruce Highway and find an impressive and cheap camp spot at The Wharf, overlooking the boats on the wide Mary River. We wish we had found it earlier, though we have no complaints about where we are staying but it would have been nice watching the riverboat traffic. We walk through the Maryborough Gardens and drive around the back streets admiring the houses. This town must have the best examples of Queenslanders in the state. I buy another pair of shoes. I’ve worn out two pair of walking shoes on this trip and haven’t lost a kilo! We have dinner with R & T and their cycling mates at the jumping Tinana Tavern.
