Ho Ho Heathcote – Christmas Dinner

Day 6 Wednesday 29/11/2023 Heathcote, cool wet

Most folks hibernate for the day, but by late afternoon the weather clears. I sit in a bus stop in town (because it has a dry seat) and sketch the old building across the road that I suspect is an old pub. I’m wrong, it was built as a bank and I decide that it needs more than a quick pencil sketch. At least I’ve got a feel for its bones anyway.

It’s a short walk home over the swing bridge and along the Liquid Ambar walk. The auction goes better than expected and raises quite a bit for the club, even though Toothless works awfully hard to get bids for the rusted wheel brace. When someone calls out that it’s called an Armstrong, he does stretch the truth somewhat by declaring that it went to the moon.

It’s a pleasant walk to the Commercial Hotel on the main street for our ‘Christmas Dinner’. The tables are Xmas-themed, and the food is excellent. VeeWee orders a Tokay and it is served in a large wine glass, she can’t believe her luck and a few others join her. We finish the night with liqueurs in Elle’s van, trying to catch up to VeeWee.

Accom: $34.00
