Day 35 Sunday 12/7/2026 Mulambin, 14 – 22 sunny
While I slept soundly, Woody went into Yeppoon for shopping and fuel. Of course, he returned with pastries for an al fresco breakfast. You’ve gotta love Queensland in winter.
Lunch is warm chicken sandwiches while we watch the comings and goings of the park. Today is the last day of school holidays so there is plenty of action.
Woody walks along Kemp Beach, a perfect beach for walking because there is a bar at the end and the brew always needs to be quality checked. I choose the easy, but less rewarding option, and walk the few hundred metres to Mulambin Beach where I’m met by a crowd of people warning of a brown snake sunning itself on the path. With a lot of waving and yelling we stop another group from coming up from the beach and we all head to the next and much wider track.

Dinner tonight is from the Thai food truck that is a Sunday regular in the park. As soon as the truck opens a queue forms and everyone stands around chatting and laughing as the wait time extends to close to an hour. No one cares, it’s a mild evening and the company interesting.

Accom: $56.00
Fuel: $130.31, 66.18 litres, (1.969)

Yep, brown snake season in our neck of the woods now too. Our eyes are always scanning as we walk on the paths through the dunes.
