Day 62 Saturday 8/8/2026 Mulambin, clear 15 – 21
E & S and the grandies (that’s Double or Nuthin’ & Shirley Temple’s son and his family) flew in late last night. They have a family cabin in the park. Today Double & Shirley want to take 2 cars to show them the sights before we have a bbq tonight. Well known for never being on time we all wait with the engine running for Double & Shirley. In the meantime, Double decides to empty their toilet (the dump point is down the back of the park). We wait. Finally, they arrive and we jump into the back of the Landcruiser. We get to the park gate, and Double remembers his sunglasses, we prop while he walks back for them. We wait.
On the road now and we don’t have the CB’s in the cars so I ring S with a running commentary of the sights that we are whizzing past. At Lammermoor we stop to show the kids the crab sculptures. Daz misses the car park and parks on the lawn. We take a few crab selfies, and we’re off, I wonder if they noticed the lovely beach?
We stop at the Cedar Park traffic lights, it’s now 11:30. Shirley says “we need meat for the bbq”, the butchers close at 12:00 and there is one here at Cedar Park. Shirley wants to go to the one in the Woolies centre in Yeppoon. Wow that’s exciting, we’re taking the kids to a shopping centre at least it has an escalator. Suddenly someone sees sense and we hang a quick lefty into the Cedar Park shops. The meat is purchased but the kids are hungry and as they dash into the bakery, we learn that they haven’t had breakfast. The poor little buggers must be starving!
We drive into Yeppoon, park in the foreshore carpark and walk to the Lagoon, around the infinity pools and wander into the Sailing Club for lunch.

Afterwards we drive part way up the Main Street of town, then up a dead end to see the view, then it’s off to the traffic lights one km north of town to do a U turn and it’s back to Rosslyn Bay for a quick circuit of the marina. I try to show the kids the osprey nest on top of the carpark light but they’ve nodded off, lunch on top of breakfast will do that. We drive back to Mulambin Beach and the land sailors are racing. We take Little B to the beach for a look and a chat with the sailors, while his mother and sister have a nap, all this sightseeing has done them in.

Happy hour is in the camp kitchen. It’s a mild evening that rolls into dinner and of course the bbq’d meat.
Geez, I hope these guys never go into the tourism business.
