Day 1, Tuesday March 25th 2014 Melbourne – Nug Nug, Vic
It’s a cool autumn morning and we leave home at 9:50. We take Eastlink, Monash Freeway, Tullamarine Freeway, Ring Road, Hume Highway. We’re heading to a caravan club muster in an offshoot of the Ovens Valley.
By the time we have crossed the Great Dividing Range the weather has become warm and dry. We disregard the GPS and turn right at the Snow Road because we love the beauty of the Snow Road. We arrive at Myrtleford around 3:30pm and pick up a BBQ chook at the local supermarket then head straight to Nug Nug campground. It is about 10kms to Nug Nug and the drive through the Buffalo Valley is a treat.
We set up beside some of our crew who have been here since the weekend. We have a perfect site on lush grass backing onto the babbling Buffalo River and shaded by trees. The whole camp is awash in emerald green. We are surrounded by hills so there is no TV, phone or internet. Although those with satellite dishes can get TV so we won’t miss out on too much. It costs us $15 per night for the site with power and river water on tap, what a deal.

A few more arrive and we have a delightful night around the fire under a very starry sky.
