Ho Ho Heathcote – Cotton Balls on Toothpicks

Day 2 Saturday 25/11/2023 Heathcote, late showers 15 – 22˚

The kangaroos didn’t come out to feed on the lawn last night, but we do have a pair of plovers (Masked Lapwings) with 3 overactive chicks that run around like cotton balls on toothpicks.

A babysitting nightmare – 2 small cotton balls to the far right of the parent bird

Woody walks 4 kilometres before I’ve even opened my eyes. We have a lazy morning then I give in to the girls’ insistence that we return to the shop that lightened their bank accounts yesterday. I think this is some form of guilt relief. If we all buy clothes, then it’s ok. And I do, it’s a delightful shop, one of those that sells, gifts, clothes, and coffee. Rutherford & Maine it’s called and there’s something for everyone. They’re even selling the shop.

The boys have their eyes on the pizza oven in the camp kitchen, so while we shop Woody heads off to the supermarket for pizza bases and toppings. On the way back he is lured into Palling Bros. Brewery for a pint of craft beer. Just one pint. He rings to say that if I see him wobbling about it’s because of the beer. We spend the afternoon putting up our Xmas lights for the ‘Pimp My Van’ competition and in Woody’s case sleeping off the effects of that one glass of beer.

Dinner is pizzas of course, and they are delicious.

Accom: $34.00
