Day 28 Sunday 5/7/2026, Maryborough, Qld, 12 – 24 cloudy
We scrub up and take off early as we’re having lunch at the Hervey Bay Boat Club at Urunga with R & T who are house sitting up here.
At every set of lights in Maryborough there are either excited families or adults dressed in Mary Poppins costumes, Blind Freddy can see that this is Mary Poppins Day. The author of Mary Poppins, Pam Travers grew up in Maryborough, her father being a bank manager.
We have a window table overlooking the marina and the boats, K’gari (Fraser Island) is in the distance. The club has been renovated since we were last here and is quite busy. R & T arrive bearing gifts, a bottle of wine and 2 pineapples, it happens to be my birthday. Lunch is a large and good Seafood Platter.
We return via the Esplanade and the pretty foreshore parks overlooking the Hervey Bay beaches.
Back at camp, we put our feet up and watch St Kilda beat Essendon while enjoying The Black Chook sparkling Shiraz.
Accom: $32.00

Sounds like the perfect way to spend a birthday.
