There was once a curious tradition for building ocean pools along the New South Wales coast and some famous ones are in the coastal suburbs of Sydney. I know of only one in other states and that is a small pool, blasted out by coal miners for their children to swim safely, at Cape Paterson in Victoria. These are just a few from the north coast.
Being a swimmer I have always wanted to swim in an ocean pool.

I’m not sure why but I find them quite beautiful. I hope they’re preserved for their historical value.

When I first read the title, I assumed your post would be about today pools, with which I am familiar. I am not familiar with ocean pool, living in the mountainous west probably being the major reason, and so found this post and the photographs very interesting. The first photo is splendid. How could anyone resist such a pool?

They are rather gorgeous aren’t they? Like a window to past times.
