On the Road Again – So, That’s Why They’re Called Shots

Day 49 Sunday 26/7/2026 Mulambin Sunny 13 – 21

We have a quiet morning talking with friends and family and changing plans. The memorial service for Woody’s brother, Woody the Elder will be held on the Gold Coast on Aug 29th. We’re due to leave here on July 31st. It’s not practical to drive home and then fly back to Coolangatta, so we extend our stay here another 10 days. The park management have kindly given us a good deal. That should give us time to get down to the Gold Coast without rushing.

We meet C &W for lunch at Waterline at Rosslyn Bay Marina. We have blue skies and glistening water, and a table on the lawn under a shady umbrella. The laksa and nasi goreng are delicious.

Dinner is little more than nibbles.

Accom: $56.00 (avg. over our total stay)

Day 50 Monday 27/7/2026 Mulambin, sunny 14 – 23

I’m due for a regular B12 injection, so we pop into Yeppoon. I sit in the waiting room chuckling over the daily Trump satire, completely oblivious to the fact that I’m about to receive an injection from a woman who must be in training for the Olympic javelin event. She lurches across the room at full pelt and whacks my arm full on with such force I almost fall off the chair. “Stings a bit, doesn’t it?” She says. Sting? I didn’t feel any sting, more like the whack of a flying brick. Maybe she’s training for the shot put? Anyway, there’s a bruise the size of a fifty cent piece on my arm. (And it will stay there for 3 weeks).

Still wondering what I’ve been hit with, I drop a prescription off at the chemist and meet Woody for lunch at a sushi train place. No Woody, you don’t have to say thank you to the robot.

In the afternoon I take another walk along Kemp Beach and spot a little head high up in the osprey nest.

Oh bugger, we forgot to pick up our medicine from the pharmacy!

Accom: $56.00
