Murphy’s Haystacks near Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula are intriguing rock formations (inselbergs) that really do look like large haystacks from a distance. Legend has it that a visiting Irish agricultural expert upon seeing the formations on the distant hillside assumed that farmer Murphy must have been harrowing his land to produce such fine haystacks.


They sure are impressive.
